FAQs

What’s the difference between a bamboo diaper and a natural diaper?

It’s simple, natural and biodegradable diapers made from bamboo fibers have benefits that other biodegradable diapers made from cotton do not. Not only is bamboo 70% more absorbent, but it keeps babies 100% drier as it wicks moisture away from your baby’s skin. Bamboo is also thermal regulating by permitting fresh air to circulate keeping your baby’s skin to remain dry and comfortable in any temperature. It also has excellent natural antibacterial and deodorizing properties.Bamboo fibers are organically smooth and round, making them ideal for creating super soft fabric materials. The fibers are naturally hypoallergenic, as bamboo grows rapidly without the use of harmful fertilizers or pesticides, and because the fibers are naturally smooth no chemical treatment is needed to create softness. Bamboo also generates up to 30% more oxygen than other plants and tree.

What is your absorbency compared to other diapers?

Little Toes Diapers were made for both day and night use, so the diapers had to be absorbent and keep babies dry overnight. Independent Lab testing that included premium disposable bamboo diapers as well as conventional diapers rated Little Toes Bamboo Diaper number #1 on absorbent capacity. Also, when tested our diapers absorbed liquid into the core in less than nine seconds.

What is the difference between ECF vs TCF pulp? Is one better for my baby?

The wood pulp found in your baby’s diaper is bleached in order to improve the pulp’s absorbency. In today’s diapers the pulp is bleached using two different methods ECF and TCF. ECF which stands for elemental chlorine free is pulp that is bleached with chlorine dioxide, which is a derivative of chlorine. It is more commonly used as it makes the diapers cheaper to produce.Little Toes diapers contain TCF (Totally Chlorine Free) pulp that does not use chlorine or chlorine derivatives in the bleaching process. Instead TCF pulp is bleached using oxygen, peroxide or ozone based bleaching systems, which are the safest bleaching method available today.

Does your diaper have a wetness indicator?

A wetness indicator is a convenient tool for parents to know when the baby’s diaper is wet and needs to be changed. The indicator is made from a glue that lays on the PE layer of the diaper which is not in touch with your baby’s skin. Our wetness indicator changes from yellow to green.

What type of dye is used for the printing of the pattern on Little Toes Diapers?

The pattern on the back sheets of little toes diapers, swim diapers and changing pads is made from a water-based ink. This type of ink is used on personal care products due to its safety as no VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are created during the production and processing of the ink. So it’s completely safe for your baby and the environment.

Where are your diapers made?

Little Toes Diapers top and back sheets are made from 100% bamboo fibers; therefore, they are responsibly sourced in China. All Little Toes products are manufactured in plants that are certified as socially responsible facilities. The diapers are then distributed by our parent company Products On The Go LLC, a Florida based certified woman owned small business.

What’s the difference between biodegradable and compostable?

When something is biodegradable it means that it is capable of being decomposed by bacteria or other living organisms and thereby avoiding pollution. Composting is the process of making an organic matter into a soil conditioner. To compost a diaper, you need to remove from the diaper all the solid waste, therefore it is only recommended to compost wet diapers. To be safe it is suggested to throw out diapers that contain solid waste. Therefore, you would still want to use a biodegradable diaper.

Are Little Toes Diapers biodegradable?

Yes, approximately 67 percent of a Little Toes Diaper is made from biodegradable materials . Our top and back sheets are made from 100% biodegradable bamboo fiber. Unlike regular diapers that remain in a landfill for up to 550 years, Little Toes top and back sheets and the paper pulp can decompose in a landfill when exposed to light in 180 days. As of now there is no such thing as a 100% biodegradable diaper, but if it can be made safely you can be sure we will do our best to make them.

Are your diapers compostable?

No, they are not and for sanitary reasons we recommend that it is best to throw out the diapers, unless you have a service that does it for you.

Is your diaper packaging recyclable?

No, however it is biodegradable using a new technology called d2w that “accelerates the natural process of oxidation until the product is no longer a plastic” by creating “a material that can be bio-assimilated (ie use as a food source) by bacteria and fungi on land or sea”. D2W plastic can be recycled with conventional polymer and can be made with recyclate as demonstrated by expert laboratories in Austria and South Africa.Your diapers are packaged in a waterproof, lightweight strong and flexible bag, keeping your baby’s diapers sanitary from the moment that are manufactured and ship to your door. These bags contain no toxic residues and no microplastics and are even suitable for food contact according to FDA & EU guidelines.

What are your natural swim diapers made from?

This is the same material that is used to make face masks and surgical gowns. Our diapers are natural therefore they do not contain any chlorine, alcohol or latex or any harmful or harsh chemicals. The ink on the printed back sheet is water base and no VOCs (volatile organic compound) will be created during production making it safer than normal ink. The elastics for the waistband and the leak guard legs is made from spandex silk.
